V-Cap Finances the First U.S. Net-Zero Health Center in Pueblo, CO

V-Cap financed the first net-zero health center in the U.S.: Pueblo Community Health Center (PCHC) in Colorado. Solar panels, fiberglass windows, and efficient lighting entirely offset the building’s annual energy usage.

As the sole FQHC in Pueblo, PCHC has grown rapidly over the last 37 years to serve a diverse population of over 27,000 patients every year. There is high demand for primary care in Pueblo and the surrounding area driven by an aging population, chronic disease, higher rates of uninsured patients, higher rates of patients using Medicaid or Medicare, and a shortage of primary care providers.

Along with Self-Help, V-Cap provided the $14 million of new debt needed for this $32 million New Markets Tax Credit financing of the new Pueblo Eastside Clinic. The new facility doubles capacity in a high need community through a state-of the art, fully integrated climate-friendly facility.
