SummitStone Health Partners

SummitStone has served as the largest provider of behavioral health in Larimer County, Colorado for more than 60 years, providing prevention, intervention and treatment for people of all ages with mental health and substance use disorders. SummitStone is pioneering unique integrated residential treatment programs for people with co-occurring disorders through their newly opened Garcia House facility.

V-Cap provided a $3.68 million loan for development of Garcia House. V-Cap structured the loan creatively to support development ahead of implementation of Colorado’s approved Medicaid waiver for residential SUD treatment, and to bridge funding from the Colorado Office of Behavioral Health.

VIP Community Services

VIP is a Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) and a multi-service provider at the forefront of the opioid crisis in the Bronx, New York. V-Cap provided critical growth financing to VIP to support its integrated substance use, mental health and primary care for high-need individuals and families, and opportunities tied to its designation as a CCBHC.

With the loan funds, VIP recruited additional staff, including alcohol and substance use counselors, to accommodate a surging demand for services; expanded its space for providing patient care, and implemented new programs – all of which will assure a model that increased access and care continuity, improved outcomes and is cost-effective.

Pueblo Community Health Center

As the sole FQHC in Pueblo, PCHC has grown rapidly over the last 37 years to serve a diverse population of over 27,000 patients every year. There is high demand for primary care in Pueblo and the surrounding area driven by an aging population, chronic disease, higher rates of uninsured patients, higher rates of patients using Medicaid or Medicare, and a shortage of primary care providers.

V-Cap along with Self-Help provided the $14 million of new debt needed for this $32 million New Markets Tax Credit financing of the new Pueblo Eastside Clinic. The new facility will double the patients Pueblo serves in a state-of the art, fully integrated facility. The expansion will also stimulate job growth in the Eastside neighborhood as PCHC retains 54 FTEs and creates an additional 49 FTEs for a total of 103 FTEs in the first seven years.

Mountain Family Health Center

Mt. Family is an FQHC that provides high-quality, integrated primary medical, behavioral and dental care to residents of four counties in Colorado’s rural western slope. V-Cap supported Mountain Family on its capital campaign to open a new state-of-the-art facility, the Basalt Clinic.

V-Cap’s $2 million loan allowed Mountain Family to open the clinic early 2019, allowing Mountain Family to significantly increase the number of patients receiving integrated mental health and primary care in the Roaring Fork Valley.

Finger Lakes Area Counseling and Recovery Agency

FLACRA is a behavioral health provider in the Finger Lakes Region of New York that delivers a range of services to individuals affected by substance abuse, including inpatient and outpatient treatment, supportive housing, and care management, and integrated care through the CCBHC program.

With V-Cap’s $750,000 construction bridge loan, FLACRA revitalized a five-story center to meet the critical need for residential addiction treatment in New York’s Finger Lakes region.

Denver Health

Denver Health’s Gipson Eastside Family Health Center is the oldest community health center west of the Mississippi River, and one of nine centers in Denver Health’s network. More than 95% of Denver Health’s patients are at or below the poverty line and rely on the clinic for a range of care, including physical therapy, pediatric care, obstetric care, and pharmacy needs. V-Cap provided a $5 million loan to Denver Health to support the renovation of their clinic.

With V-Cap’s support, the Eastside Clinic underwent substantial restorations for the first time in more than 50 years, including modern examination and procedure rooms, restrooms, lighting and infrastructure upgrades.

STRIDE Community Health Center

STRIDE Community Health Center serves the largest population base of any FQHC in Colorado. A majority of Stride patients are from racial and ethnic minorities, including a large refugee population on the east side of Denver. In four of the larger counties served by STRIDE, the combined number of people living in poverty more than doubled from 2000 to 2014. V-Cap financed a $3.8 million loan to enable STRIDE to establish a larger, centralized administrative office to better service their growing Medicaid-eligible population.

The new building not only enabled STRIDE to become more time and cost efficient, but helped standardize workflows and processes to improve quality outcomes and patient experience.
